It was my experience in the SO that, for whatever reason, people were often incapable of applying standard policy. Everything from "new non-E" to the most central tenets of their Justice system. Shortcomings, real or imagined were harped on ruthlessly, regardless of your personal statistics (the supposed standard of how heavily or lightly "ethics" were applied). I remember the release of "The Golden Age of Tech" and thinking to myself, "This is not standard Scientology" and it immediately transformed auditing from a fluid series of processes applied by another person, to a robotic application of lists and sequences. First of all, the vast majority of my auditing was FPRD but I also got my Full Ser Fac Handling, some NED, LX Lists, PTS Rundown, Suppressed Person Rundown, a few grade chart actions (up through SCN DRD) and some random and miscellaneous introductory and repair type actions. In all honesty, I got the most benefit from my FPRD. Some people have a hard time with sec-checking... it didn't take me very long to get over the initial embarrassment. All told, regardless of whether or not what I ran was true or not, it was an exercise in becoming self-aware. It mostly freed me from a common sense of morality. If I am a moral and just person now its because I have no real compunction to be either good or bad, my only motivation is to do what I feel is best in that situation regardless of my emotions. I trained in kickboxing for years, and yeah, it's not judo, but there is such a thing as body mass. You cannot force a 400 pound man to move across a room if you're a 13 year old girl. It seems to me that the main positive of auditing is that you can dredge up memories and thoughts that you find fearful, and the release from that fear gives a sense of euphoria. I'd say anyone can do this by just writing in their own personal journal. You avoid giving embarrassing personal details to anyone and save a load of money. Having just read this entire thread as an outsider, there seems to really be two forms of auditing; 1) A load of BS auditing. Basically focusing on the past life, space opera, and imagined "crimes" towards scientology. 2) A possibly useuful auditing. This kind seems to closer to psychotherapy, but having people realize their problems through brute force rather than subtelty. Ofcourse, variations can be found within both forms of auditing depending upon the auditor. Would this be a generally correct summation? Meh... you're in the right ballbark... I might even go so far as to say "You can put it that way, but you would be missing the point....
