To Anonymous: don't worry about smaller turnout

A few Anons commented over the weekend that the turnout for April 12th seemed less than the previous two months. One thing that needs to be made clear:

THIS IS INEVITABLE. RAW NUMBER OF ANON PROTESTERS WILL DECREASE OVER TIME.

This has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the protests. The reasons for this are natural:

- As time goes by, the /b/-tards who got into this for the LULZ will drift away. Showing up at a protest a couple of times with a mask is fun, but if that's all they care about then they're going to become bored and find something else to do. The truly committed Anons will stay the course, and the ones less interested will leave.

- It's spring and summertime, folks. This ties into the previous reason, because the weather is getting nice and it will be harder for folks to commit themselves to attending a protest. In Boston, for instance, the weather was expected to be pouring rain all day...and it turned out to be sunny and beautiful for most of the protest. As the weather gets nicer, Anons will be concerned about other things.

- And the media coverage is waning. Again, this is NOT because of you, but rather because of the media's obsession with ratings. "What, another Scientology protest? That's old news -- they did that two times before." The lessened media coverage is also inevitable, and that in turn causes fewer people to show up at the protests.

This, again, does not mean the protests are becoming less effective. The CoS still considers you to be a "Hill 10" because they still don't know who most of you are. The reports showing up from behind the scenes show that you ARE having an effect. By mid-summer, the numbers at the protests might be one-quarter what they were in February. Don't be too worried or concerned about that, because there is one thing that is bound to keep people committed to this: the CoS' repeated foot bullets.

In addition to what you said, me and one of the guys who's been covering anti-CoS protests as a reporter for a while now were discussing the number or people that had shown up in London. And we came to the conclusion that we really didn't understand why people were complaining. Even at that point, about 30 minutes before it was over, there were still 200-300 people standing around, three months ago they would be lucky to have double digits at a picket.

Actually I disagree on a couple of points - yes its natural for some people to lose interest. But waning media coverage? Not from what I've seen! The reconnect protests have had the best media response yet, in my opinion. And it is possible this will drive more people to join the protests.
