Usually not a good thing.
SOme of your questions are from way out in left field.

First, defnitely thank you for answering the question...

I really want to know more about 'Ethics Office', their purpose, etc.

I look online, and can find NOTHING.

Sorry my questions are left field... is it any coincidence I'm left handed?

Just kidding.

I know you probably don't think that's funny.

So... I just didn't think that Ethics Office could be calling Public Members, I thought Ethics Offices only bothered SO...

Maybe they would call to commend for good behaviour?

I just wonder if a call from them is ALWAYS bad.

And what kind of influence they have over public members....

You have a lot of reading to do. ESMB is a good place to start.

The Ethics office is responsible for handling anything considered "out ethics" by the church. Whether it be internal or external.

One more thing, I have talked to others who say that when Ethics Office calls is to sell more product, not necessarily 'in trouble'...

I also don't know how in the world they would find out about any 'out ethics' for a public member? Someone from the local org reporting them, I don't think so because they are well respected.

If a Scientologist is getting a call from an ethics office, it's because of an etics situation. That doen't mean staff from that area wont call to try selling books though. But if it's an ethics situation, they will announce it.

Scientologists are required to write "Knowledge Reports" on any situation the church deams out ethics. Including someone being critical of the church.
