The story behind LOLcats;
It all began ages age on a, by now fairly well known, website by the name of 4chan. On the Random /b/-board of this website an image was posted of a cat with some horrible spelling attached to it. This quickly caught on and Saturday was declared Caturday (later it was claimed that every day is Caturday). As with most good things, the idea was stolen, and morphed into something a bit more sanitary, although it was at the time probarbly the only thing on /b/ that was worksafe.
Many would say that current lolcats are not as good, this could be true since quality is somewhat drowned out when anyone capable of adding text through photoshop can do it. And I still cringe everytime I hear the name LOLcats, it's Caturday damnit.
