Interesting site
http://petragrail.tripod.com/page5.html points to September 11th 3 BC as Jesus birth date. I have read other theories placing the commemoration of Jesus' birth on the 25th of December for the purpose of converting pagans. You can become Christian and still celebrate on your traditional pagan festival day as well.
As a Christian I am not concerned that others celebrate Christmas, but it confuses me when PC people insist on deChristmasitising Christmas. It is not an insult to say Merry Christmas to another. It is not a Holiday Tree. The songs sung are not Holiday Carols, the concerts in school are not Holiday Concerts especially if the content is all about Christmas. The lights I put on my house are not Holiday decorations.
I would never wish happy holiday candle lighting to a Jewish person on Hanukah. I wish them Happy Hanukah. The menorah is not a Holiday Candlestick, it is a menorah.
I am not surprised that exscientologists are wary of religion. It took me a few tries to find a Christian denomination who didn't funnel a lot of money to support an upper administration. The church I found funnels a lot of money to Africa, Romania and Mexico to assist the poor and forgotten.
