Last night I was reading a passage in George Orwell's 1984 which reminded me of this thread. Winston Smith, employee of the Ministry of Truth, had rebelled against Big Brother and begun to write his own thoughts in a diary. But Winston knew that his real "crime" was in his thoughts, which would inevitably be found out by the Thought Police. The metered sec check in Scn is a real-life example of an organization trying to prevent not just freedom of speech, but freedom of thought.
