I understand your perspective, DoubleVee. That's why I put substantial disclaimers in my work to let people know it's fiction and do my best to cast everything in a positive light. I also use myself as a satirical character as much as the celebrities even though I'm not famous. Believe it or not, I empathize with the way you feel. I have had enough gossip and lies spread about me in my time to know it can be a source of trouble as much as flattery. I have decided my latest story will probably be the last in the saga in part because of this knowledge.
You can take heart that I have not explored some avenues with my celebrity characters other fanfic authors have with theirs. I don't do vampires, mind control, or BDSM; I let reality guide me as much as fantasy; and if I use tabloid rumors I establish that they are such. I do my best to verify my sources through research (never directly contacting the people involved of course), adhere to the law (the US Supreme Court is on my side, thank you Larry Flynt), and respect both sides of controversial issues. If you or anyone wants to critique my work, I can PM a link. I am open to constructive criticism, just not trolls. Forgive me for not further discussing the difference.
