Clearwater residents avoid downtown

that residents of Clearwater have been and will continue to avoid downtown due to the presence of scientology. Apparently the Co$ doesn't have the public support it touts.

That's not hard to figure out. When I was there the church was about the only thing downtown. So why would anyone even want or need to go there when it's a church hotspot with little shopping in the area?

I've been hearing that most of the retail locations there are very Co$ friendly because the scientologists are pretty much the only ones patronizing the stores, restaurants, etc in downtown. I think this is a sad situation for someone who may have had a retail business there prior to the Co$ invasion. This puts the retailer in a position where they are dependent on the scientologists, unless they can afford to move their business.
