Definitions of Grade Chart and Some Other Actions

For those that want an explanation of some terms.

These are what is SUPPOSED to be the grade chart. Plus some other definitions of specific rundowns (procedures) that might be given.

I should be adding more later.

If you want to know what a particular thing is, just ask. WE GIVE VERBAL TECHNOLOGY (we are such squirrels )

Purification Rundown (Purif): "combination of exercise, vitamins, nutrition and sauna use, which dislodges drug residues and other toxins from the fatty tissues so that these substances can then be eliminated from the body" (C of S) - considered a major stop to case-gain
Scientology Drug Rundown (Scn DRD): To handle the spiritual/mental aspects of drugs. This is done after the purification RD.
Happiness Rundown (HRD): Auditing/confessionals (I think) done to clear unhappiness. Based on the Way to Happiness. Expected End Result: Knows that one is on the Way to Happiness
False Purpose Rundown (FPRD): Auditing/confessionals done to 1) remove the charge associated with overts and withholds (basically sec checking/confessionals) and 2) get rid of the underlying false or evil intentions causing a person to actually commit those overts/withholds. Supposed to give one resurgence of purpose and confidence in the ability to reach out.
ARC Straightwire - Auditing done to improve a person's ability to recall. Expected End Result: Knows he or she will not get any worse.
Grade 0 - processes designed to bring one to the ability to communicate to anyone on any subject
Grade 1 - processes designed to bring one to the ability to recognize problems and their causes and to make them vanish (Present time problems handled)
Grade 2 - processes designed to free one from the hostilities of life (confessionals, sec checks also)
Grade 3 - processes designed to free one from the upsets of the past and the ability to face the future (ARC breaks handled)
Grade 4 - processes designed to move one out of fixed conditions into the ability to try new things (service facsimiles handled)
New Era Dianetics (NED) - Dianetics as updated through further research - supposed to achieve the state of clear or a well and happy preclear
Expanded Dianetics - designed to bring freedom from cruel impulses and chronic unwanted conditions.
Clear Certainty Rundown (CCRD) - to verify and acknowledge the State of Clear if achieved through NED or past life, etc.
Grade 5 - Power Processing - Ability to handle power - only given to preclears that didn't go clear on NED.
Grade 5A - Power Plus Processing - Stabalizes Power - only give to preclears that didn't go clear on NED.
Grade 6 - Processes to release the whole track. Expected end result: Freedom from Dramatization. (Solo Audited) (only done by preclears that didn't go clear on NED.)
Clearing Course (Grade 7) - Processes to bring someone to clear that did not go clear on New Era Dianetics. (Solo Audited)
Sunshine Rundown (SRD) - Designed to put a polish on the state of clear, bringing a person to a point where he appreciates the new state he has achieved.

The Pre-OT levels.
These are levels above "Clear" which are still dealing with handling "bank" or "aberratons" but instead of the first dynamic, it is on the other dynamics.

"Original OT I-VII" were processes which were supposed to increase OT ability or handle the things that were supposed to be handled on OT levels. However, the OT levels were changed at some point to what they are now.

New OT I - Expected End Result (End Phenomenon) (EP) A fresh causitive OT Viewpoint on the MEST universe and other beings.
OT II - Expected EP - ability to confront the whole track.
OT III (Wall of Fire) - Expected EP Return of Self-Determinism and Freedom from overwhelm (if you want to know more, search under the OT 3/confidential materials forums and other stuff on the internet. I don't read this stuff because I don't care)
New OT IV - OT Drug Rundown - given to eradicate the last bit of effect of drugs on the being (thetan).
New OT V - Audited New Era Dianetics for OTs - These are procedures that are related to Dianetics but applied to OTs. Yeah the whole Body Thetan thing. Whatever lol
New OT VI - Solo New Era Dianetics Auditor Course - this trains you to run Solo NOTs on yourself out in the field.
New OT VII - Solo Audited NED for OTs - Solo Auditing procedures for you guessed it, yada yada yada

ACTUAL OT Levels:
These are levels that are actually designed to increase OT abilities. You are no longer auditing out abberations but actually increasing spiritual ability.

New OT VIII - Handles the primary reason from amnesia on the whole track
New OT IX - XV - not released yet (will they ever be?)

These are the courses that can be delivered by ordinary Churches and sometimes Missions of Scientology

(BTW - CO-Audit - A training course and course of auditing where one learns to deliver a certain procedure with someone else and these two people audit each other to the expected end result of the auditing)

HQS (Hubbard Qualified Scientolgist) Course - to inculcate the person with the basics of Scientology
STCC (Success Through Communication) Course - to give a person basic drills teaching him how to handle communication in social and business environments.
Life Imrovement courses - Course which are delivered to give a person information on using Scientology for certain areas of their life. Marraige, Ups and Downs of Life, etc.
PE (Personal Efficiency) Course - Addresses specific problems in life and teaches people to use Scientology for many basic areas in life.
Book One Co-Audit - This teaches one to use DMSMH (Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health) and the procedures described in that book to relieve engrams and psychosomatic (phyical caused by the mind) illnesses
TRs and Objectives Coaudit - teaches one the basics of TRs (training Regimens) and objectives auditing (auditing procedure to bring a person to a point where he can control and be controlled and to bring him into present time mentally)

Ungraded but "on the bridge" and therefore required (mostly) to progress
M1 (Method One) co-audit - A procedure to clear up misunderstood words that a person has encountered throughout their life that they might have negative spiritual energy (charge) attached to.
Student Hat Course - Teaches a person how to use Study Technology

The below must be done at actual churches of scn.
PRO TRs (Hubbard Professional Training Regimens) Course - Teached people the communication drills necessary to deliver auditing. Expected to make a person that can handle life's situations with communication alone.
UPPER INDOC (Upper Indoctrination) TRs Course - Teaches people to control bodies, objects and intentions
Hubbard Pro Metering Course - teaches people to handle an emeter properly.

All Levels from here on require internships to perfect and give experience delivering technologies taught on each level)
HRS (Hubbard Recognized Scientologist) - Class 0 - Trains a person to deliver ARC straighwire and Grade 0
HTS (Hubbard Trained Scientologist) - Class I - Trains a person to deliver Grade I (procedures on help and problems) and objectives
HCA (Hubbard Certified Auditor) - Class II - Trains a person to deliver Grade II, security checks and confessionals
HPA (Hubbard Professional Auditor) - Class III - Trains a person to deliver Grade III, rehabilitation lists (corrective lists to handle specific situations in auditing), Listing and Nulling Procedures (procedures to find and alleviate charge on a specific item in a class of items), Auditing by List (procedures which require checking for charge using an emeter a whole list of things), Two Way Comm (auditing procedures based on straight back and forth communication rather than set questions)
HAA (Hubbard Advanced Auditor) - Class IV - Trains a person to audit Grade IV and service facsimilies*
Class IV Internship - Done to perfect the skills necessary to deliver all processes trained for in classes 0-IV)
HNEDA (Hubbard New Era Dianetics Auditor) - Class V - Teaches someone to deliver NED to preclears
Class V Internship - etc etc
HCVGA - (Hubbard Class V Graduate Auditor) - Class V Grad - trains someone to deliver corrective procedures on all grades and NED, and specific Case Remedy rundowns)
Class V Grad Internship - yada yada
HEDA (Hubbard Expanded Dianetics Auditor) - Class VA - Ability to deliver Expanded Dianetics
Class VA Internship - and more and more

*Ser Fac (Service Facsimile) is something with or without an expressed computation that is something the pc uses as a prepared, fixed solution that made it unnecessary to look at similarities and differences in present time

Only delivered at Saint Hill Colleges (SH level orgs) or at Flag Service Org:

HSS (Hubbard Senior Scientologist) - Class VI - Saint Hill Special Breifing Course (SHSBC) - A training program to teach A) all of Dianetics and Scientology non-advanced level technology, in order of development and B) To train an auditor to deliver all procedures and rundowns below Grade V (including NED).
This is the big mamma jamma of all courses. All books. All tapes. All procedures.
To take this you must have completed either A) all training through Class V or B) Be a clear or OT who has taken all trianing below Class 0.
Class VI Internship perfects the skills of .. you get the idea on internships I hope ...
HGA (Hubbard Graduate Auditor) - Class VII Auditor course - only available to staff or Sea Org. Trains a person to deliver Grades V and VA, Power and Power Plus processing
Class VII Internship

Only Delivered at Advanced Orgs or FSO:
HSST (Hubbard Specialist of Standard Tech) Class VIII - Ability to handle all cases to 100 percent Standard results, deliver advanced procedures and corretive actions. (I believe this is where you learn to deliver OT IV).
Class VIII Internship

Only Delivered at FSO:
(Must be Sea Org Staff at AO or FSO)
HAC Specialist (Hubbard Advanced Course Specialist) - Class IX - Ability to deliver OT V (NOTs - Second Wall of Fire) and all review actions through OT VII.

Class X Auditor - Ability to audit L10*
Class X Internsip
Class XI Auditor - Ability to deliever L11
Class XI Internship
Class XII AUditor - Ability to deliver L12

*L10 - Addresses reasons one withholds oneself and can increase ability to reach (supposedly lol)
L11 - New Life Rundown - Addresses areas where one introverts and the things that diminish one's power, supposed to deliver a new level of rationality
L12 - Flag OT Executive Rundown - Increased Stability, certainty and control of beingness

Staff Status 0,1,2
Courses to get a person stably onto staff and indoctrinated on the most important policies necessary to be a member on staff

OEC - Organization Executive Course - Training on all policies for all areas of an organization. This can be completed (theoretically) by doing all OEC courses for each volume which applies to the various departments of an organization.

OEC Volume 0 - All policies that apply to all areas of an organization
OEC Volume 1 - Policies that apply to Division 1 - Communication
OEC Volume 2 - Policies that apply to Division 2 - Dissemination
OEC Volume 3 - Policies that apply to Division 3 - Treasury
OEC Volume 4 - Policies that apply to Division 4 - Technical
OEC Volume 5 - Policies that apply to Division 5 - Qualifications
OEC Volume 6 - Policies that apply to Division 6 - Public
OEC Volume 7 - Policies that apply to Division 7 - Executive

Completing Volume 0 and the Volume for the division where your post is located is either staff status 3 or staff statuses 3 and 4

If you are doing this while actually on a post, you are supposed to do:
Volume 0
Volume for your division
other volumes for the section of the organizaton you are in (7,1,2 or 3,4,5 or Volume 6)
And then the rest of the volumes

Completing all volumes is staff status 4 or 5

FEBC Flag Executive Briefing Course - Only delivered at Flag Command Bureax (now ILO) International Training Organization for staff or Flag Service Org (for public - and I think the public one is watered down or there may no longer be a public version)

This course trains people to manage organizations.

Specialty Courses:
C/S Courses -
There are Case Supervisor Courses and Internships for Class V, VA, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII
These train a person to direct other auditors to standardly deliver procedures for each level. You must be a certified auditor for the level before doing the C/S course and internship.

Courseroom Delivery:HPWCC - Hubbard Professional Word Clearer Course and Internship - trains a person to deliver all types of word clearing procedures
HPCSC - Hubbard Professional Course Supervisor Course and Internship - trains a person to standardly train others. It should be noted that a Course Supervisor does NOT have to have done the courses he is supervising. He is supposed to ensure that the student does all requirements according to a checksheet of items.
There used to be (may be still or may not)
HMWCC - Hubbard Mini Word Clearer Course and INternship - training a person to deliver most methods of word clearing
HMCSC - Hubbard Mini Course Supervisor Course - a course to train people quickly to run a course room. This is the minimum required to run ANY courseroom.

More Courses:
KTL - Key to Life - Training and Auditing procedures to get a person able to communicate fully and clearly and to be able to undertstand the communications of others.
LOC - Life Orientation Course - Training and Auditing Procedures to get a person competent in the Physical Universe.
(Also C/S courses for these)

PRD - Primary Rundown - A course to make a superliterate, a person that can read an immediately apply anything. This consists (or used to consist) of doing the Student Hat and all materials of the student hat using method 8 word clearing (clearing in a dictionary every definition of every word contained within the student hat course) before studying the material.

To become a Professor of Scientology, the highest level of course supervisor, one must complete the PRD, HPWCC and Internship and HPCSC and Internship

Well, there's not much left that is done. But there are a couple:

And by the way, these are the probably the most "controversial" of all the things that I have talked about. Because these are the things that some people feel are complete brain-washing techniques, and others feel have great value. These are the things that the Church teaches and applies that most of us here on these boards have the greatest problems with. Because they are either 1) applied (people don't agree with them) 2) criminally applied (applied by the church to suppress free thought and speech) 3) not applied (if actually applied by the church people would be less upset about Scn and the church) or 4) Not applied correctly (if correctly applied by the church people would be less upset about Scn and the church)

(Sorry, there is a mixture of "official doctrine" and my own additives - I think it's pretty obvious which is which)

PTS/SP (Potential Trouble Source/Suppressive Persons) Course - Teaches people about Suppressive Persons - people that suppress or put down one (in practice it's those that suppress the church) - and Potential Trouble Sources (People who are connected to SPs) - and how do deal with PTS Situations.

ISE - (Introduction to Scientology Ethics) Course - Teaches one about 1) the conditions of life and how to apply to formulas to improve different areas of life 2) about what constitutes offenses in Scientology (misdemeanors, crimes and High Crimes) and 3) Justice procedures in Scientology

Hubbard Eth. Spec. (Ethics Specialist) Course - Teaches one to administer what the ISE talks about. Supposed to train people to use Scientology ethics policies to help people become more ethical and survive better on their dynamics - works out to be how to apply "ethics and justice" to people to get them to conform to what the church feels is ethical and moral

Therapuetic TRs Course - Teaches a basic level of TRs to PCs who have gotten auditing but have never done TRs. Basically to inculcate them with what happens in auditing. This course is almost never done because PCs are usually sold either HQS or Pro TRs courses.

Scientology DRD (Drug Rundown) also has a co-audit course available. I've only seen this done rarely. Usually PCs are sold intensives for DRDs.

Scientology Minister Course - A minister trained in the fundamental beliefs of the great world religions, the religious nature of Scientology and the duties and ceremonies of a Scientology minister.

I actually think that this course has great value. Because it does force scientologists to at least have a basic understanding of other religions.

PTS/SP Rundown - an audited procedure to release charge from past PTS situations thereby putting a person more at cause in his life.

Introspection Rundown - an audited procedure to handle the reasons why a PC is introverted (depressed)

BSM (Basic Study Manual) - a more basic course than the student hat to teach the basics of study technology.

Special Rundowns Courses - Many of the special rundowns have courses which teach class IV or class V auditors to deliever specific rundowns. This is often done in smaller organizations that can't afford to wait to train their staff auditors on the complete Class V Graduate course.

Hubbard Assist Processing Course - teaches an auditor to standardly deliver scientology "assists" - procedures used to help alleviate current physical or emotional conditions which would prevent them from being audited on grade chart actions.

Special Course in Human Evaluation - teaches people the basic chart of awareness characteristics and I beleive the tone scale (a scale which classifies all levels of human and spiritual emotions)

I believe that this course is used to teach people to help people onto the bridge but I am not sure

Hubbard Group Auditor Course - trains people to standardly deliver "group processing" procedures that can be given to whole groups of people to bring them into present time or change the emotional level of a group

Hubbard Introduction and Demonstration Auditor Course - teaches people to audit demonstration procedures that introduce scientology to people and demonstrate how auditing works.

It's funny, but these procedures probably are the most valuable thing in Scientology. Because each procedure actually deals with specific things and helps to release them. This is what a lof of people outside of the official church feel that Scientology should do.

Scales are a very important part of Scientology.

Pretty much everything is arranged in some sort of scale or heirarchy. Human emotion, human conditions, processing (auditing), training, organizational structure ... everything.

Probably the most important in Scientology is the Scale of Awareness.

Pretty much everything is put somewhere on this. Tone (emotional level), organizational structure (different departments are supposed to reflect different awareness characteristics), the training and auditing bridge.

This is the chart which ties it all together.

There is a post somewhere on ESMB which lists them and I can find it right now. Can someone post a link to the list on ESMB?

So, everything in Scientology can (theoretically) be understood better if one understands what scientology means by these different levels. Some are self explanatory. Many could use definition as to what scn defines them as.

I will, to round out this thread (and it won't be for a few days maybe) get this list and define what I feel needs defining, or post a link to how someone defines these.

How is it that this ridiculously complicated mechanism for "redemption" is believed to be "the Way?" Could it not be compared to a lifelong course in computer programming, only to find out near the "end" that all you can do is some simple coding in "Basic" (but you're convinced that you've reached the zenith of computer languages).

What happens to your logic, judgment and reasoning ability? Is everyone kept in such a tight little cocoon that they cannot see "the forest for the trees?"

I agree with the proposition that "it works and has value." But the degree to which there is any significant human achievement is beyond questionable and the VALUE aspect is ludicrous in the extreme (IMHO). I still say AMWAY would be the better alternative!

And "Yes," I've had that axiomatic discussion with MYSELF as a Christian -- it's a therapeudic method of dealing with my closet schizophrenia. Over my 50 years of personal study of Christian history & faith (including college training), I have never had a problem with the historical evidences of Jesus nor of the New Testament narratives of His existence (I've not had a lot of time for the diversity of creative myths that have circulated about Him, though).

I consider the discussion of Scientology as legitimate religion on a level beneath that of my own Christian experience. For me, the tenants of the CoS only resonate when I think of them in the context of mental deception. Admittedly, this is only based on a "crash course" of research over the past couple of months, but it seems to be corroborated by many whose stories are told here and elsewhere. I've heard David Miscavige speak in terms so thick with Bizarro-code it makes my head spin. I've also read the wrenching stories of individuals whose young lives have literally been stolen from them. I'm only supposing that they would not characterize Scientology as having "worked" for them.

For me, L. Ron's "doctrine" was purely a concoction of mental aberrance and his own powerful imagination. It repeatedly has defied any scientific demonstration, it flies in the face of logic, it creates its own convenient enemies to rally the faithful, it prostitutes the natural tendencies of many who actually want to do some "good" in this world, and has created little or nothing of societal change in its 50 year history (unless you want to count empty wallets versus current real estate holdings), and it reacts with a corporate paranoia unmatched in polite society to any perceived threat or challenge. I suppose Mormonism has run a close second place, but at least they have some REALLY cool stuff like SPECIAL UNDERWEAR and the multiple wives thingy going for them.

I'm not sure that my view from the "Outside" contributes much to the discussion but hopefully it can be judged on the basis of my relatively long tenure on the planet. Live long and prosper my friends. My personal best to each of you.
